Want to hear something really scary? This year's almost over! (October 2021)

Well, here we are, racing towards the finish line of 2021, asking ourselves: where the heck did it go?  With just over two months left, we can make a bad year good, a good year great, and a great year stupendous!  When was the last time you had a 'stupendous' year?  We start out the new year with our list of 'New Year's Resolutions'.  Our lists include resolutions/goals in the areas of family, money, time management, health, new hobbies, bad habits to quit, etc.  And, as often happens with New Year's resolutions, we get off the starting blocks quickly, and then the year gets away from us.  So before the clock strikes midnight on 12/31/21, now is a good time to review what you've accomplished this year and how you can still get on the path to 'stupendous'.

Step 1: Review your list of resolutions/action items and then create a list of your achievements.  Write these down.  Celebrate your achievements this weekend, even if you’re not where you wanted to be at this point in time. Celebrate what you did accomplish.

Step 2: Prioritize what is left on your resolution/goal list.  Make any necessary adjustments given the time frame is down from 12 months to 2 months.  Stretch yourself, but don’t drive yourself into the ground, vacate your family life, etc.  Be reasonably audacious!

Step 3: Schedule time in your calendar to work on whatever it is you’ve identified as going into the achievements column for 2021.  If you need to exercise more, block out the time in your calendar at the beginning of the week for the days you want to move your body.  Treat it like an appointment with your boss, an important client, etc.  Make it non-negotiable.

Step 4: Identify the first action you need to take.  If you need to get your wills updated, what’s the first action you can take to make that happen?  How about picking up the phone and make an appointment with the attorney?  Or if you don’t have one, get a referral to one.  You get the idea.  Break it down into small, bite size pieces.

Step 5: Stay focused.  We’re not in the marathon stage at this point, this is a sprint.  Fast forward and picture yourself relaxing around the holidays, enjoying your family, friends, good food & drink, looking back at what you accomplished these past 2 months.  What would make that moment so gratifying, so sweet?  Picture it, savor it, now GO DO IT!

Have a great weekend and make it a Stupendous Halloween!

Best Regards,

Gabor
